Valentine Escapades

Just when you thought the festive season was over comes Valentine’s Day!

Being by by far one of the most commercial festive days of the planet, Valentine’s day still holds a pinch of wonder, romance and love to everyone out there. After all, who would not like to be surprised on Valentine’s Day?

A romantic candlelight dinner, a romantic weekend or maybe even a sweet escapade to another country!

A tropical island? why not but I would  still vote for the all-time classical romantic destination: Paris!  Maybe the Alpes? Naaa! Let’s go to Venice!

Places, choices and to help you out here are some sweet romantic ideas!

Europe. it’s cold but it’s Europe!

Paris! Let’s fly to Paris…. As Audrey Hepburn once said:  “Paris is always a good idea”.

3 days in Paris, a dinner in a 5 stars restaurant, a walk on the Champs Elysées,

a stay at one of the fanciest hotels…

Zermatt specifically while you’re there! Escape to the Matterhorn, the mountain on the Swiss-Italian border.

Zermatt is in fact well known to be a city full of activities, gourmet restaurants and beautiful lodges.

Not to forget that you can also pamper yourself in one of their luxurious spa!

Now that sounds like a perfect gateway!

John Galliano is back!

And Galliano is back!

Back in October 2014, it was announced that John Galliano will be back to the couture scene with the Belgian famous artisanal designer Martin Margiela.

And the long awaited moment happened earlier this week when Galliano presented his first couture collection: as we all know him,  Galliano just went out of the ordinary.

The date: 12th of January, 2015

The city: London

The event:  Autumn/Winter 2015-2016 menswear fashion week

As expected from a Galliano collection: it was bold enough keeping the artisanal spirit of the Maison Margiela style!

This collection came, indeed, as a good come back for Galliano to the Couture world.

Though we did miss the big extravaganza theatrical shows he used to create at Dior, but we sure knew that it was him who designed the featured collection.

Beige, black and red: those were the main color concentrations for the Spring 2015 Couture collection.

Mixing fabrics, toy soldiers, bird figurines, coats, cinched waists, micro denim shorts, corset and oversized tuxedos, etc… all those and more were the highlights of the Margiela by Gualliano defile, of course without forgetting the two tones shoes, the jewelry and the accessories adorned with the designed. Red dresses were there too: simple but definitely artisanal.

All in all, the fashion show  was a rebirth for Galliano; a rebirth that the fashion industry awaited for a long time now. A restart, for a talented designer, of both artistic and theatrical tastes, as we all remember him.

Welcome Back Mr. Galliano! We surely missed you!

Shiny! Sparkly! Golden Globes 2015

The Awards season is back!

The 72nd Golden Globes was held on Sunday 11th of January 2015 at the Beverly Hill’s Hilton Hotel, and our favorite stars walked down the red carpet for the first time this year.

And they were sparkling!

White dresses and sparkly ones dominated this year’s Golden Globes.

Shining… like really shining!

Julianne Moore and Dakota Johnson both dared a shimmery metallic sparkling gown and they absolutely rocked! Though I am personally not a fan of glittery outfits and would not dare to go for that much shining, but both dresses were absolutely what a red carpet needs!

Clean white, white and silver embellished, silver shimmery, taupe and light pink were among the dominating colors of this years’ red carpet.

For my part, I think they are the perfect colors for a January event: You don’t want to look too summery and yet you want to stay away from dark colors such as black and burgundy; though a perfect black dress can never go wrong!

J-Lo appeared in a Zuhair Murad silver art deco beaded Kaftan! Now can anyone believe that this woman is actually 45 years old? Breathtaking!

Jennifer Lopez
Another Zuhair Murad creation appeared on the Red Carpet: Chrissy Teigen (also known as Mrs. Legend) chose a blush pink beaded sheath gown, perfectly matching with her skin color! A win-win choice I must admit!

And if my best friend decides to get hitched very soon (I really really hope she does), this is the dress I am wearing!

Chrissy Teigen
Kate Beckinsale appeared in an Elie Saab Haute Couture silver taupe dress. Classy,Chic, Simple! So much like our favorite movie “Serendipity”.

Are you getting married soon? Thinking of hitting the Greek islands for your wedding? Emily Blunt gave us an idea of what we can wear for a summer Greek wedding in her white pleated ethereal Micheal Kors dress!

Silver shimmery: that is what Reese Witherspoon chose for the red carpet, designed by the famous Calvin Klein. It has been a long time we didn’t see a “hit dress” from this designer and he sure made a huge comeback!

And to top them all comes Kate Hudson! Did anyone notice the rocking dress designed by Atelier Versace showing her beautiful curves and back? Now that is sexy!

And then come the colors. Those alternatives were pretty much present at the January Golden Globes for this year, reminding us of the summer season that we surely miss!

Amy Adams made an appearance in an Atelier Versace light baby blue dress looking angelic! The “Confessions of a Shopaholic” star sure proved to have a great taste in her dress choices throughout the past year.

Jenna Dewan-Tatum dazzled  in a light yellow Carolina Herrera! A color to be considered for your next summer wedding.

Jenna Dewan-Tatum
Naomi Watts also made a choice for a yellow Gucci gown, adorned with Bvlgari jewelry.

Though she missed the red carpet walk, Gwyneth Paltrow looked very fresh in her baby pink Micheal Kors.

Red! Bright Red was there too!

Let us start with Heidi Klumand her Atelier Versace design showing her tanned skin: Looking simply gorgeous.

Coming out of a fairytale was Allison Williams who made a beautiful choice with this Armani Privé red gown with ruffles. I could think of that dress for my next winter wedding.

Taylor Schilling in a beautiful Ralph Lauren custom backless halter gown!

Viola Davis in a blood red Donna Karen with ruby red and crystal rhinestones: The perfect tone of red for her skin.

Sheer embellished sleeve and a side peekaboo! Mrs. Fonda you surely make all women jealous. The 77 year old looked stunning in an Atelier Versace red dress. (breathe people, yes Jane is 77 already!)

Jane Fonda
No red carpet can pass by without few black dresses:

Amal Alamuddin Clooney made her debut with a black classic Dior dress with a long statement train (safe choice) assorted with Opera gloves which created a retro look from the silver screen.

Behati Prinsloo arrived with her husbdan Adam Levine in a sequin black Kaufmanfranco design looking as sexy as her beau. Knowing that I am not a fan of sequin dresses, I would wear this one without blinking!

Though Jennifer Aniston did not win the Golden Globe Award for best actress, the lady surely won a: “Yes, Yes!” for her red carpet appearance in a sexy open leg halter with a sequin bodice Saint Laurent dress, simply looking like we are always used to see her: adorable.

Jennifer Aniston
As for the winner of the Best Actress in a TV series, Gina Rodriguz did not just nail the award; the actress also won the red carpet “wowing” with her black strapless with a fringed sheer skirt designed by Badgley Mischka.

Gina Rodriguez
Many of the designers this year had included in their collection the puffy gowns, those gowns that meet  every girl’s dream of wearing a princess-like dress. Three dresses of that style caught my attention:

Anna Kendrick in a Monique Lhuillier

Felicity Jones in a Dior Couture

Felicity Jones
Julia Goldani Telles in a Carmen Marc Valvo

Anyone having a fairytale wedding theme? I would be happy to wear one of those dresses!

The cutest of all the dresses that were on the red carpet this year is the one worn by the Annie movie star Quvenzhane Wallis. The 11 years old little girl was wearing a custom made dress by Giorgio Armani, respecting style and her age too.

Quvenzhane Wallis
Now this is my kind of fairytales!

And then come the ladies that actually went off the ordinary and dared something new Lorde and Emma Stone:

Emma Stone in a Lanvin jumpsuit with a sequined bodice and a side bow was simply looking dazzling, out of the ordinary, wild and sexy.

“Touché” Emma, this is going to be my next custom made outfit.

Emma Stone

And who said pantsuits were for men? Lorde made it sure that a women can pull off a pantsuit with a crop top and have all the cameras stuck on her. Her outfit was chose from the Narciso Rodriguez collection.

Lorde
The award season just started and the next one to come is the most awaited.

See you all at the Oscars!
