Oh Oscar!

Tragic morning! This is what I call a tragic morning for the fashion industry.

The iconic gown master passed away... Oscar de la Renta passed away!

The man that dressed first ladies, Hollywood stars and designed the most breathtaking wedding gowns left us today at the age of 82, leaving behind him a 50 years legacy of fashion!

Jacqueline Kennedy, Nancy Reagan, Laura Bush, Michelle Obama, Jenna Bush, Hilary Clinton, Sarah Jessica Parker and many more were dressed by De La Renta, without forgetting the most awaited wedding gown of Amal Alamuddin Clooney less than a month ago.

Each dress he designed was anticipated and awaited. And though he was known to be an American designer, Oscar always had a European touch running through his designs, making gowns look even more special!

Earlier this month Oscar has appointed Peter Copping the artistic director of Nina Ricci as a creative director for his company.

Oscar, the red carpets, wedding aisles and White House dinners will be missing you.  The fashionistas, designers and regulars will be missing you. We all will be missing you!

Peter we are counting on you to keep the legacy going on!

“What is Oscar de la Renta?’ And you could say, ‘It’s a pretty dress.'”

Hello Halloween

Fall is here and the festivities seasons is about to start:

Hello October! And Hello Halloween!

Oh yeah! Festivity number  1 this season (and every fall season): Halloween!

October 1st: OMG October is here! Where are we celebrating Halloween?

October 10th: Did you know that this “top notch” club is throwing one of the best Halloween parties in town! Champagne, masks, trick and treats and Halloween personalized menu!

October 15th: Table Reserved!

October 25th: I still don’t know what to wear! Any costume ideas?

Ready-made costume? Absolutely not!

This year I am going to be creative and do it myself!

Princess, Witches, cats! Enough of those! Its cliché and predictable. Not to mention that you will be 100 out of 100 wearing that!

Keep it simple. Avoid that costume where you will have to spend half an hour (or the evening!) explaining to people what are you wearing.

Halloween is fun. So have fun people!

Dress up like a fellow colleague or one of your friends (but first you really need to make sure that this will not piss them off )

It’s not about being trendy… nor super chic! It’s Halloween! It’s about playing dress up… actually, do you feel like dressing in your favorite childhood character? Then go ahead, do it!

Make-up! Use it. Use a lot of it! It’s your chance to mix up colors and try that overdone make up you always wanted to do. Who’s opting for the Cleopatra eye liner this year? But while you’re at it, avoid the gothic bloody make up: that one option  looks horrible and you really don’t want pictures on your Facebook page with that kind of stuff on your face!

And above all, don’t forget it’s Halloween and not a strip club invitation! Avoid showing too much skin: it is not sexy, it is not fun and it is not Halloween-ny! (PS: too much skin is not sexy at anytime anyway)

Venetian masks, a classy hair do and a maxi dress. Hell yes! You are allowed to keep it simple and classy when ideas run out of your head.

Happy Halloween Ladies!

Don’t forget to bring with you some candies to give away!
